After being honored with his own guitar model by the Gibson Custom Shop, Johnny A.'s Signature Model is now featured as one of the top Five Iconic Guitars and “sweetest rides” in the Gibson Shop, along with Signature B.B. King and Les Paul models.  The Custom Shop designs Gibson guitars to the players’ exact specifications.  Gibson Custom first introduced the Johnny A. Johnny A. Performs At 20th Anniversary Of The Boston Music Awards

Johnny A. was featured at the 20th anniversary of the Boston Music Awards December 1, 2007 at The Orpheum Theater. Joining an all-star band led by James Montgomery, Johnny ripped through an exciting version of "Walkin' the Dog." Other performers included Bobby Brown, Extreme, Martin Sexton and Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith. Johnny A. was first recognized at the Boston Music Awards in 2000, when he received a Best Debut Album nomination for Sometime Tuesday Morning. The Boston Music Awards showcases talented performers in the greater Boston area and supports local charities Music Drives Us and the Berklee City Music Program.


Johnny A. releases new instructional DVD "Taste • Tone • Space"

Johnny A. has released a new instructional DVD entitled "Taste • Tone • Space" via Alfred Publishing. The DVD features Johnny and his band performing eight of his most popular songs from his two Favored Nations releases Sometime Tuesday Morning and Get Inside. Each song is followed by a discussion of the specific concepts and techniques involved in playing the song. Also included are discussions about Johnny's gear, influences, and approaches to writing and recording. Special features include printable PDFs of guitar TAB music for six songs, an up-close tour of the Gibson Johnny A. signature guitar, bonus performances featuring Robben Ford and Albert Lee and an interview with Bill Strickland, founder of the Manchester Craftmen's Guild.

Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD Features JJ Cale and Robert Cray plus Duke Robillard

JJ Cale and Robert Cray are both featured on the just released two disc, four hour plus DVD of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival which took place in Dallas this past June. Duke Robillard is also shown performing with blues legends Honeyboy Edwards and Robert Lockwood Junior. The DVD chronicles the festival which brought together dozens of the world's top rock, blues, country, jazz, and folk guitarists and also included Rosebud artist, Johnny A.. Rosebuds Gather For Clapton Benefit

Among the artists featured at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas June 4-6 are several Rosebud artists. JJ Cale (whose songs "After Midnight" and "Cocaine" are among Clapton's biggest hits) will perform Saturday night. Robert Cray who co-wrote "Old Love" with Eric after Eric had covered Cray's "Bad Influence", will appear in an all star jam Saturday night with Eric, Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan. Cray appears again Sunday in the Cotton Bowl with The Robert Cray Band. Also on the festival are Johnny A., performing early Sunday and Duke Robillard who performs as part of a blues clinic with Robert Jr. Lockwood and Honeyboy Edwards. Booker T. Jones will also perform along with the MGs during the Cotton Bowl show. The event is a benefit for Crossroads Rehabilitation Clinic in Antigua.


Johnny A.'s "Get Inside" in stores February 24

Johnny A. continues to stake his claim as one of the premier guitar players in popular music today as evidenced by Gibson's new Johnny A. guitar and his new Favored Nations CD Get Inside set for release February 24. The Custom Shop continues their tradition of supporting a select few premier players with its Signature Series, which features guitars that are designed specifically for (and in conjunction with) the artists who are playing them. The 2003 Johnny A. model combines several innovative new design aspects with loads of vintage Gibson appointments to create what will surely become a modern classic.
