Legendary producer, pianist, writer, arranger, singer and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Allen Toussaint has collaborated with, produced, or had his songs covered by The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, The Band, Paul Simon, Joe Cocker, Dr. John, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and many more. Most recently Allen Toussaint collaborated with Elvis Costello on the Grammy nominated CD "The River in Reverse" and was featured on national television as part of the 2008 NBA All Star Game halftime show with other legendary New Orleans pianists Harry Connick, Jr. and Dr. John. His classic song "Yes We Can Can" is prominently featured in the hit documentary, "Young At Heart," based on an elderly singing group performing rock tunes. Highlights of his busy live performance schedule for 2008 include shows at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, a tour of Japan, a triumphant show at the BBC Radio 2 Cambridge Folk Festival and another collaboration with Elvis Costello at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Watch for his new Joe Henry produced Nonesuch CD in early 2009 featuring guests Don Byron, Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, Marc Ribot and Brad Mehldau.
