ALLEN TOUSSAINT
Legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and 2009 Grammy Trustees Award winner, producer, pianist, writer, arranger and singer Allen Toussaint has collaborated with, produced, or had his songs covered by The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, The Band, Paul Simon, Robert Plant/Alison Krauss and many more. He collaborated with Elvis Costello on the 2007 Grammy nominated, The River In Reverse and on a world tour with Elvis. In April 2009 Allen Toussaint released his first solo album in over a decade to critical acclaim, the Joe Henry produced The Bright Mississippi. The New York Times raved of a recent live performance "New Orleans was in every phrase, with hints of swing, of humor, of sly sensuality ... a lifetime of memories refined by a genteel sensibility that finds the elegance in the blues." Recent and upcoming performance highlights include the 2009 Grammy telecast, Lincoln Center Outdoors, UCLA/Royce Hall, Bonnaroo, San Francisco Jazz Festival, Montreux, North Sea and London Jazz Festivals. Allen's world class virtuosity and incomparable contribution to music history is matched only by the incredible warmth he generates in concert with his old school Southern charm.
