Loudon Wainwright III was honored in Entertainment Weekly's "Best Of 1996" issue as composer of the year's "Best Lyric." Beausoleil Super Bowl Appearance, New CD, Prairie Home Companion date
The six-time Grammy-nominated group releases L'Amour ou la Folie (loosely translated as "Love or Folly") on the Rhino label on January 14. Featuring guest artists (and old friends) Richard Thompson and New Orleans clarinetist Dr. Michael White, the album showcases the group's incomparable Cajun/Creole sound on both traditional and Beausoleil original songs.
BeauSoleil is also scheduled to perform along with Mary Chapin Carpenter for the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXI (Sunday, January 26), which will be hosted by New Orleans in the group's home state of Louisiana.
After the game, the gang heads north to the frozen tundra for a taping of Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. The nationally-syndicated radio program features a Beausoleil performance for its February 1st airing.
