February 12, 2013 INgrooves Fontana
ACCLAIMED ROCKERS THE STONE FOXES' NEW ALBUM SMALL FIRES OUT FEBRUARY 12 ON INGROOVES FONTANA
PREMIERES FIRST SINGLE "EVERYBODY KNOWS"
Small Fires, the long awaited album from Bay Area-based band The Stone Foxes, will be released February 12 on INgrooves Fontana. The new record follows the band's 2010 sophomore album Bears & Bulls that USA Today described as "irresistible" and the San Francisco Chronicle claimed "rules!" The first single "Everybody Knows" premiered as a free download via the band's fan newsletter, visit the their website for more details: thestonefoxes.com. To support the release, the band will embark on a national tour. See tour dates.
Small Fires was recorded at The Carriage House in Los Angeles and produced by Doug Boehm (Dr. Dog, Drive by Truckers). The band is comprised of brothers Shannon (drums, harp, vocals) and Spence (guitar, vocals) Koehler, Aaron Mort (bass, drums, vocals) and Elliott Peltzman (keys, vocals). Of the new record Peltzman notes, "making Small Fires with Doug Boehm felt like being in a dream." Shannon Koehler continues, "It feels like we finally made the record we set out to make. The sound feels like us. We said what was on our minds, whether it was political, about a relationship, or anything else. It's darker than our first few records, but making it put a big old smile on my face."
The Stone Foxes, who formed in late 2005, started out performing in San Francisco, writing, even on stage as they played, and have opened for critically acclaimed artists including Cage the Elephant and Grammy-winners The Black Keys. They spent the past year touring extensively, including stops at Wakarusa, Outside Lands, Voodoo Music Experience and Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival. |
"The Stone Foxes have an energetic style that's rooted in swampy, foot-stomping blues-rock…ambitious arrangements with diverse moods ranging from acoustic twang to thunderous electric-guitar riffs"
