Ruth Brown is pictured in July 8 issue of U. S. News & World Report’s Music just out. The R&B legend is also mentioned in an item on Ray Charles, noting that Ray got his start backing artists like Ruth and Lowell Fulson. Ruth is just rebounding from some health problems and sounding better than she has in years. Watch for her to be making appearances before the end of the year.

JJ Cale Live DVD, "The Lost Session", Due August 27 From Classic Pictures

Classic Pictures will release JJ Cale's first live DVD "The Lost Session" on August 27, 2002. This DVD is an intimate look at JJ Cale and band performing his hits in an informal session at LA's Paradise Studios in 1979 with Leon Russell on keyboards. This rare and unique footage has never been seen before now and gives fans the chance to see this unique talent at work.


The Blind Boys of Alabama's New CD due on September 3 from Real World Records

On September 3, Real World Records will release HIGHER GROUND, the new album by the Blind Boys of Alabama. This 12-track collection is founded on an extraordinary pairing of young and old souls. The original Blind Boys - Clarence Fountain, Jimmy Carter and George Scott, all in their seventies - are backed here by pedal steel phenom Robert Randolph and his Family Band. Acclaimed singer and guitarist Ben Harper also contributes to three tracks. The result is an album that is by turns traditional and playful, but always inspired.
