Luther Allison featured on Blues Revue Magazine cover Blues Revue, which last year proclaimed Luther Allison "The Man To Watch In 1996," pictured Luther on their October / November cover under the banner "The New King of The Blues." The story that follows tells of Luther's sweeps of this year's W. C. Handy Awards and his nightly marathons of 3 to 5 hour sets that leave the crowds in awe. What isn't mentioned, of course, is that rival magazine, Living Blues, also found Luther sweeping both its Readers and Critics Polls as well. Luther is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to his Blue Streak Alligator CD. New John Lee Hooker & John Hammond re-releases On October 1, pointblank classics/Virgin re-released John Lee Hooker's Jealous, a 1986 Handy Award winner and Grammy nominee, with an all-new cover and CD art.
