The Staple Singers and Charles Brown to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame The Staple Singers and Charles Brown are two of only seven living performers to be inducted into the 1999 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on March 15, 1999. Other inductees include Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and Curtis Mayfield. Along with Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Charles Brown will be inducted in the "Early Influence" category. Loudon Wainwright III on VH-1's Midnight Minutes November 17 Loudon Wainwright III recently taped several segments for VH-1's new feature, Midnight Minutes. The segment features artists doing 60 second performances to be aired at midnight. Loudon's first segment, "Fame & Wealth" airs at midnight on November 17. John Lee Hooker will be honored on November 14 when a street in his hometown of Clarksdale, MS will be renamed John Lee Hooker Lane The dedication will be part of a benefit festival to kick off the expansion and relocation of the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, 'The Home of the Blues'. John Lee Hooker Lane will run in front of the museum's new location, the old Illinois Central Railroad Freight Depot located on the railroad tracks that legends such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf once rode. |
