Charlie Musselwhite & Luther Allison continue W. C. Handy Award Streaks Charlie Musselwhite once again won the W.C. Handy Award for Best Blues Instrumentalist - Harmonica. Charlie has been dominant in this category for the past decade. Luther Allison, who swept the Handys in his last touring years was honored once again with a posthumous award for Reissue Album Of The Year for Ruf Records' reissue of Luther's Hand Me Down My Moonshine CD. The Blind Boys Of Alabama featuring Clarence Fountain support Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Al Green Legendary High Energy Gospel Stars, The Blind Boys of Alabama featuring Clarence Fountain recently opened two shows for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at New York's Irving Plaza. They were also featured guests for Al Green's two late May shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York. The Dirty Dozen Brass Band Co-Bill with Jazz Squad, Support Widespread Panic in support of new Buck Jump CD The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will spend the Summer on the road in the US and Europe in support of their new Buck Jump CD on Mammoth Records. They begin the Summer co-billing dates with The Squirrel Nut Zippers spinoff, Jazz Squad, and continue through most of the Summer supporting Widespread Panic. David Lindley and Wally Ingram On Tour with Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby and Shawn Colvin David Lindley and Wally Ingram will perform as support to and then join the all-star touring package including Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby and Shawn Colvin as they cross the US beginning in late August.
