Trombone Shorty and Allen Toussaint Honored at New Orleans' Big Easy Awards

Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews is being honored as Entertainer of the Year at the 2010 Big Easy Music Awards in New Orleans.  Andrews has also garnered two additional nominations for Best Male Performer (an award he won in 2008) and Best Rock Performer.  Fellow Rosebud Artist, the legendary Allen Toussaint, is honored with a nomination for Best Album of 2009 for his GRAMMY nominated The Bright Mississippi.  The awards are hosted by The Big Easy Foundation and winners will be announced on April 19, 2010 at Mardi Gras World River City Ballroom in New Orleans. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will perform for the Awards' grand finale, likely making it obvious why Andrews is being honored as the best entertainer.

TROMBONE SHORTY STORE

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be performing all over New Orleans before and during this year's Jazz & Heritage Festival.  They begin their hometown run with the French Quarter Festival and Tulane University's Crawfest earlier in April, followed by shows during the Festival at The House of Blues, Blue Nile, Tipitina's and on the closing day of Jazzfest on the Gentilly Stage.  After Jazzfest, the band has a full summer of U.S. festival shows, as well as dates in Europe and at Japa's Fuji Rock Festival.  Watch for Trombone Shorty's major label debut, Backatown, out on Verve Forecast April 20, 2010. Please see Tour Dates >>

Allen Toussaint is still riding high off his GRAMMY nominated The Bright Mississippi, which remains in the top 25 of the Jazz Charts nearly a full year after its release.  He was recently featured on Austin City Limits, which devoted the entire program to his performance.  Allen just returned from a tour of Europe, headlining shows in Bologna and Rome in Italy and ten shows at the International Jazz Festival Bern in Switzerland.  Always a highlight of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Allen will be performing an extra set at the Festival this year in a Jazz format, in addition to his usual soulful set on the main stage. Trombone Shorty's New Release: Backatown, Out April 20, 2010

Trombone Shorty will release his major label debut, Backatown, April 20, 2010 on Verve Forecast. The disc was produced by Ben Ellman of Galactic and features guest appearances by Lenny Kravitz, Allen Toussaint (who contributes piano to a take on his own composition "On Your Way Down," the album's lone cover) and Marc Broussard. An explosive, homegrown combination of funk, rock, R&B and hip-hop Shorty calls SUPAFUNKROCK!, the album features fourteen songs, all but one of them written or co-written by Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews.

'Backatown' is a local term for an area of New Orleans that includes the historic Treme neighborhood - or 6th Ward - from which Shorty hails. Home to Congo Square, birthplace of Louis Armstrong, it has been called "the most musical neighborhood in America's most musical city." Shorty taps into these roots to create a streetwise, gritty sound all his own on Backatown.

Touring constantly, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have confirmed several 2010 festival appearances, including one of the prestigious closing sets at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (in addition to at least four other New Orleans shows during Jazzfest); a triumphant return to Bonnaroo; a debut performance at the Hollywood Bowl for the Playboy Jazz Festival; NY's Mountain Jam Festival; the High Sierra Music Festival in CA. and many more. David Lindley and Jackson Browne To Release Live CD May 11, 2010 - Touring Europe and US Together This Summer

David Lindley and Jackson Browne will release Love Is Strange - En Vivo Con Tino on May 11, 2010, a 2-CD live set capturing a tour of Spain that David and Jackson did in 2006. This summer they will tour with Jackson's band of almost 20 years in the U.S. and Europe. The Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour begins with a month-long European leg kicking off in the UK on June 3 and includes shows in Hamburg, Paris and the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The tour starts in the U.S. July 20 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. It runs through the end of September, including dates at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in CO.

On record and in performance, David and Jackson have a musical association reaching back almost 40 years. David's legendary stringed-instrument virtuosity has been showcased on many of Browne's albums, beginning with 1973's For Everyman, and classics such as Late For The Sky and The Pretender (the latter two both on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time). Browne also produced Lindley's 1983 LP, the acclaimed El Rayo-X. (please see DISCOGRAPHY)

Jackson says of David's reputation for elusiveness and playing together in Spain in 2006: "Why had I not thought of this before? Take him where he doesn't speak the language and he will HAVE TO leave the gig and come with you to the restaurant, or to the club. This was an unexpected strategy breakthrough in a pursuit that for a legion of friends, disciples and admirers has become known as 'stalking the wild Lindley.'"
