MY FEET CAN'T FAIL ME NOW
featuring THE DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND & JON CLEARY
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and pianist Jon Cleary unite to deliver a high energy dose of New Orleans funk.
The Dirty Dozen brought New Orleans brass bands back to prominence 25 years ago with their ground breaking album, My Feet Can't Fail Me Now. This tour will celebrate that milestone as they perform the CD live in their earlier format - stripped down and without electric guitar in favor of dobro and banjo. Over the years, "The Dozen" have introduced authentic and contemporized brass band music to the world's most prestigious festivals and on record in collaborations with Dr. John, Dizzy Gillespie, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Dave Matthews and many more. While paying tribute to the historic tradition they brought to the world, they've always added contemporary influences - accomplished here when keyboard monster Jon Cleary joins them to boost the energy level even further.
Born in England, Jon Cleary is a New Orleans transplant who has absorbed the music so authentically, he is now a true representative of the scene himself. He has toured the world many times over as keyboard player with Bonnie Raitt (who declares, "Jon Cleary is the ninth wonder of the world."), Taj Mahal and John Scofield. In addition to joining the "Dozen" shows, he'll get each show rolling with his own group entitled, 'Jon Cleary: Piano, Bass & Drums'. |
