BeauSoleil 25th Anniversary CD Scores Billboard Rave Spotlight Review BeauSoleil's new CD, Looking Back Tomorrow: BeauSoleil Live, scores a rave Spotlight review in the Jan 27 issue of Billboard Magazine. The CD, which marks the band's 25th anniversary, was recorded live at Wolf Trap. Among the accolades was the final line "This CD is an hour in the Southern part of heaven." The band will tour throughout the year promoting the CD and the band's anniversary with special guests on many of the dates. Duke Robillard Projects Score Handy Nominations Duke Robillard's presence in the W C Handy Award nominations extends beyond his nomination for Best Instrumentalist - Guitar, a category he won last year. Duke also produced and his band performed on Rosco Gordon's Memphis,Tennessee CD which is nominated for Comeback Blues Album of the year. He also produced and was enlisted his band to play on Eddy Clearwater's Reservation Blues CD which is nominated for Blues CD of the year. To top it off, long time Duke Robillard Band saxaphonist, Gordon Beadle, has been nominated for Best Blues Instrumentalist - Horns. Ivan Lins Tribute is #1 at Smooth Jazz and a Double Grammy Nominee The Ivan Lins Tribute CD, A Love Affair, The Music of Ivan Lins continues to hold the #1 position on Smooth Jazz charts. In the meantime, the CD has scored two Grammy nominations. The track from the CD, "She Walks This Earth (Soberana Rosa)" as performed by Sting has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Grover Washington Jr.'s contribution to the tribute (his last recorded performance), "Camaleao", was also nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Pop Instrumental Performance. Four Rosebud Artists Honored with W. C. Handy Award Nominations Ruth Brown, Charlie Musselwhite and Duke Robillard all scored W. C. Handy Award Nominations with Marcia Ball pulling in two nominations. Artists and categories are as follows: Marcia Ball - Contemporary Blues - Female Artist of the Year and Blues Instrumentalist - Keyboards The Handy Awards will be held in Memphis on May 24,2001 at the Orpheum Theatre. Charlie Musselwhite Scores Third Grammy Nomination Charlie Musselwhite just scored his third Grammy Nomination in the Traditional Blues Album category. Charlie shares the nomination with James Cotton, Billy Branch, and Sugar Ray Norcia for their collaboration on Telarc's Superharps. Looking Back Tomorrow: BeauSoleil Live! Due For Release on January 16 Grammy Award Winners, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, will release Looking Back Tomorrow: BeauSoleil Live! on January 16. The CD celebrates the band's 25th anniversary of bringing Cajun music to the world. Recorded live at The Barns At Wolf Trap, the CD also celebrates a return to the first venue outside Louisiana to present the band when, in 1976, they performed at the National Folk Festival. The Rosebud Agency Nominated As Best Boutique Agency The Rosebud Agency has been nominated as Best Boutique Agency in Pollstar Magazine's Concert Industry Awards. Winners will be announced at the annual awards show at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on January 30. The honor comes as Rosebud begins celebrating it's 25th year and we thank all the music industry executives who participated in the nomination process. |
