Allen Toussaint, Trombone Shorty and The Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band To Perform At G20 Summit Reception

Allen Toussaint and Trombone Shorty along with The Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band (with Wilson Savoy sitting in for Marc Savoy) are being featured among the Global Ambassadors of Louisiana Music & Culture who will be performing for leaders from around the globe at a VIP reception during the G20 Summit.  Celebrating a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change, guests include G20 delegates and diplomats, Obama administration officials and CEOs of environmental, labor and youth organizations.  The event is hosted by the U.S. Climate Action Network and Teresa Heinz and Senator John Kerry are Honorary Hosts.  It will take place at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA on September 23, 2009.  President Barack Obama is also scheduled to appear at the event. The Blind Boys of Alabama Release New CD, Duets, October 27, 2009

The Blind Boys of Alabama will release their new CD, Duets, on October 27, 2009. This special project features tracks that the Five-Time Grammy winners have recorded with high profile admirers Lou Reed, Bonnie Raitt, Ben Harper, Susan Tedeschi, Randy Travis, Solomon Burke, Marva Wright, Jars of Clay, Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Asleep At The Wheel, Dan Zanes and Toots Hibbert (Toots & The Maytals) as well as with fellow Rosebud artists, Charlie Musselwhite and John Hammond. Of the 14 tracks on the compilation, four are from Grammy winning albums, three are from Grammy nominated discs and three songs have never before been released. Ruthie Foster Song Featured In Tyler Perry's #1 Hit Film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself

Ruthie Foster's song "Tears of Pain" is featured in Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which was the #1 film in the U.S. in its opening week. Written, directed, produced and starring Tyler Perry, the film also stars Gladys Knight and Mary J. Blige, who both appear on the soundtrack as well. "Tears of Pain" is also featured on Ruthie's latest highly acclaimed album, The Truth According To Ruthie Foster and she is currently featured on the cover of the Oct./Nov. 2009 issue of Blues Revue Magazine. Pieta Brown To Release Shimmer on November 10, 2009

Pieta Brown will release her new CD Shimmer on November 10, 2009. The CD was produced by Don Was (Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Rolling Stones) and features seven stripped-down original tracks with Pieta on guitar/vocals, Bo Ramsey on electric guitar and Don Was on bass. Don Was calls Pieta "a great singer/songwriter who possesses major star power magnetism." His vision was to record Pieta with her songs and voice, “unadorned” and full center.  Recorded live and mixed as it went down, Shimmer is the enchanting result. The Essential Coco Montoya Out October 20, 2009 - Coco On Tour with Tommy Castro This Fall

The Essential Coco Montoya will be released by Blind Pig Records on October 20, 2009. All of the songs were hand picked by Coco and span his first three solo albums from 1995-1997. Mentored by legendary bluesman Albert Collins (a Rosebud artist until his passing in 1993), Coco went on to become the guitarist for John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers for ten years before leading his own band. Upon releasing his debut album, he won Best New Blues Artist at the 1996 Blues Music Awards.
