APRIL 2013: Carrie Rodriguez Featured On Google Play's April Antenna Playlist, Plus The Stone Foxes On Google Play's Free Song Of The Day |
Carrie Rodriguez's song "I Cry For Love", taken from her current album Give Me All You Got, is featured on Google Play's Antenna playlist for April. The playlist is a monthly offering of free tracks from new and up-and-coming artists. Carrie, one of just twelve artists chosen for this month's list, is described by Google Play as "a Texas fiddler with a mean pop streak." The full track, "I Cry For Love", is also available as a free download on Google Play while Carrie's album is available for purchase via their online shop. FEBRUARY 2013: Jim Lauderdale, Carrie Rodriguez and Charlie Musselwhite Projects Top Americana Radio Chart And Roots Music Report, Jim Lauderdale Bluegrass Unlimited Cover Story
The latest releases from Jim Lauderdale, Carrie Rodriguez and Ben Harper with Charlie Musselwhite are all in the Top 10 on the Americana Radio Chart presented by The Americana Music Association. Jim Lauderdale and Buddy Miller's, Buddy & Jim, held the #1 position three weeks in a row and is ranked #3 as of this writing. Carrie Rodriguez.s Give Me All You Got made a rare top ten debut and now ranks in the #2 position as of this writing. Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite's single "I Don't Believe A Word You Say" from their collaboration, Get Up!, is rapidly climbing the chart and is currently ranked at #7. In other airplay news, Jim Lauderdale's Carolina Moonrise has totaled five weeks in the #1 position and is still at #2 as of February 4, 2013 on Roots Music Report's (RMR) Bluegrass Chart. Simultaneously, Jim's collaboration with Buddy Miller, Buddy & Jim, has been ranked in the top five on RMR's Country Chart since January 11, 2013. Also on the RMR Country Chart, Carrie Rodriguez has made a rapid ascent into the top five over the past few weeks with Give Me All You Got and currently ranks in the #2 position. JANUARY 2013: Carrie Rodriguez To Be Honored By City Of Austin With An Official Carrie Rodriguez Day
Carrie Rodriguez has had a day named in her honor by her home city of Austin, Texas. The City has proclaimed January 17, 2013 to be forever known as Carrie Rodriguez Day. The City of Austin's proclamation is in recognition of Carrie's "work in advancing Austin as the 'Live Music Capital of the World'."
Carrie will perform one song for the City's Mayor and Council members on Thursday, January 17 during the City Council's meeting where there will be an official proclamation of Carrie Rodriguez Day. The meeting will be open to the public and will air live on local TV Channel 6 from 5:30pm (CST) as well as being available to watch via a live stream at austintexas.gov/department/channel-6. JANUARY 2013: Carrie Rodriguez, Ruthie Foster And Marcia Ball To Be Featured At Texas State Society's Presidential Inauguration Ball
Rosebud artists and Texas musical ambassadors Marcia Ball, Ruthie Foster and Carrie Rodriguez are set to perform at the Texas State Society of Washington D.C.'s Presidential Inauguration Ball on January 19, 2013. Also known as The Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball, this bipartisan event in honor of President Obama will feature six stages with some twenty performers from the Lone Star State. In addition to Ruthie, Carrie and Marcia, the cast of Texas musicians performing includes Tracy Byrd, Jack Ingram, Asleep at the Wheel and more. The event will be held on the banks of the Potomac River at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center and will feature Texan delicacies and a "Texas Fair". NOVEMBER 2012: Carrie Rodriguez New Solo Album Out January 2013
Carrie Rodriguez will release Give Me All You Got, her fifth full-length solo album, on January 22, 2013 via Ninth Street Opus. Produced by Lee Townsend (Bill Frisell, Loudon Wainwright III, Kelly Joe Phelps), the record marries Rodriguez's Texas background with a decade spent in Brooklyn. The album is filled with original songs that Carrie says "run the gamut of intense emotions." She goes on to note "for the first time, I feel that the passionate spirit of my live show has truly been captured in a studio album." The record also features Chip Taylor with whom Carrie has collaborated on five albums and an EP.
Give Me All You Got follows Love and Circumstance, which No Depression hailed as "an album you do not want to miss." The Washington Post described Carrie "a superb interpretive singer, not only milking melodies for all their pleasure but also revealing new implications in the lyrics." Rodriguez is slated to tape a performance on NPR's Mountain Stage on November 18. The recording of the performance will air nationally in advance of the album's release. AUGUST 2011: Carrie Rodriguez Joins Jeff Bridges' Band For Performances On The Today Show, The Colbert Report, Live! With Regis & Kelly And More
Carrie Rodriguez joined Jeff Bridges as a member of his band (playing fiddle and singing) for performances on the Today show, The Colbert Report, Live! With Regis & Kelly, a taping for Austin City Limits, a three song performance at Rolling Stone magazine's offices and shows in Colorado and South Dakota. Carrie will be playing additional dates with the band August 24 in San Rafael, CA, August 26 in Saratoga, CA and August 28 in Woodinville, WA. Carrie was asked to join the band during Jeff Bridges' dates in support of his new self-titled album.

DECEMBER 2010: Carrie Rodriguez on NPR's Mountain Stage Premiering 12/3, New Duet Album We Still Love Our Country Out Digitally 2/1/11 and Austin City Limits Re-Airing Weekend of 12/3
Carrie Rodriguez's profile is getting several boosts in the near future with her Mountain Stage performance premiering on NPR beginning December 3rd, please check local listings for airtimes. The following week the show will be available to stream on NPR.org. Carrie's performance on Austin City Limits, where she is paired with Jakob Dylan, will also be rebroadcast the weekend of December 3rd on PBS.
Carrie has teamed up with Ben Kyle of Romantica on a duet album, We Still Love Our Country, which will be released digitally February 1, 2011. The album is produced by Carrie and Ben with Lee Townsend (Bill Frisell, Loudon Wainwright III, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter), who produced Carrie's last solo album Love & Circumstance.

SEPTEMBER 2010: Carrie Rodriguez Featured on New Los Lonely Boys Album, Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez Collection and more
Carrie Rodriguez is a featured guest on two songs on the forthcoming Los Lonely Boys album, Keep On Giving: Acoustic Live! (out September 28th). The tracks, "Heaven" and "Beast of Burden," also feature Alejandro Escovedo. Carrie, Alejandro and Los Lonely Boys toured together earlier this year, with Carrie playing her own set before playing as a member of Alejandro's band each night. Carrie is the subject of a radio special hosted by Alejandro, Live & Circumstance, that will be airing on over 131 stations - watch for more details coming soon.
Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez - The New Bye & Bye, The Best of the Trainwreck Years (2002-2007), will be released on Oct 12th. The album features four new songs and highlights from their past collaborations. On top of that, Carrie has also teamed up with Ben Kyle of Romantica on a duet EP, When We Loved Our Country. It will be available exclusively during her UK and Holland tour with Romantica, September 17 - October 11, 2010.

Jim Lauderdale's performance as a member of Elvis Costello's Sugarcanes band on Austin City Limits replays on August 14th. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue's June 22nd performance on The Late Show with David Letterman will be re-broadcast on August 20th. Carrie Rodriguez will release Love & Circumstance, her third studio album, on April 13, 2010. The CD was produced by Lee Townsend (Bill Frisell, Loudon Wainwright III, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Dave Holland) and features her world-class touring band with guest appearances by Bill Frisell, Buddy Miller, Greg Leisz, and Aiofe O'Donovan. For this project, Carrie performs works by songwriters including: Hank Williams, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Buddy & Julie Miller, M. Ward, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings, Sandrine, David Rodriguez (her father), and Ava Garza (her great Aunt).
The New York Times' Jon Pareles praised Carrie's last album, She Ain't Me: "Her fiddler's vocabulary of old modal melodies centers her songs about faraway loves and spiritual prospects, bringing concision and gravity to every one of them... Behind the sorrows and longing is a determination that's grounded, implicitly, in tradition."
Beginning February 11th continuing to March 2nd, Carrie will open the Western U.S. leg of Los Lonely Boys' & Alejandro Escovedo's "Acoustic Brotherhood Tour." In addition to Carrie's own sets, she will be joining Alejandro on fiddle for his part of the show. APRIL 2009: Carrie Rodriguez Live In Louisville CD Out Now
Carrie Rodriguez has just released Live In Louisville, a new CD featuring a full 12 song set from April 2007, recorded while touring with Lucinda Williams. Two of the songs are released here for the first time: a cover of Bill Monroe's "You Won't Be Satisfied (That Way)" and the instrumental "Blackberry Blossom." Other highlights include "Big Kiss" and a rockin' version of "50's French Movie." Carrie says of this tour, "this was truly a life altering experience!" The CD is available on Carrie's website carrierodriguez.com, at her shows, and if you happen to live in Texas or Kentucky, Waterloo Records in Austin, TX and Ear X-tacy in Louisville, KY.
