Loudon Wainwright III On Grounded For Life

Loudon Wainwright will make an appearance on an upcoming episode of Fox TV’s Grounded For Life. Loudon’s acting credits continue to grow as he adds Grounded for Life to last year’s Ally Mc Beal appearance (where, in addition to his acting role he sang 3 songs) and his regular appearances on Fox's Undeclared. Loudon previously appeared in Sandra Bullock’s film 28 Days as well as acting credits dating back to 3 appearances on MASH. In the meantime, he continues to do a limited number of live shows through the Fall and Winter. See his tour dates.


Rosebud and Mike Kappus noted for environmental commitment

Rosebud owner/founder Mike Kappus was recently noted for his commitment to environmental concerns in various media outlets. Co-op America Quarterly ran a feature article on how Kappus converted the Rosebud office to solar power. The book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Solar Power for Your Home also notes Rosebud as an example of converting a business to solar power. Nationally syndicated radio program, E-Town, also recently featured an interview with Kappus about his environmental concerns. Kappus is also currently putting the finishing touches on a compilation CD to benefit Earthjustice and their campaign for clean air, clean water, and healthy communities - much more on that later but for more information on Earthjustice see www.earthjustice.org.

Booker T & The MGs and Mavis Staples are featured in a 2 page spread on Stax Records in the November Music issue of Vanity Fair magazine. International events highlighted for November include Loudon Wainwright’s November 30 performance in Skokie, IL.


E Town Airs Rosebud’s JJ Cale, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Mike Kappus

Nationally syndicated radio program, E-Town, recently aired segments by JJ Cale and band, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Rosebud founder/owner, Mike Kappus. The features were taped on two separate nights in front of sold out audiences at the Boulder Theatre in mid August. JJ Cale performed with his band and was also joined by host Nick Forrester. The show’s other featured guest, Beth Orton, joined Cale on his classic, “Cajun Moon”. Two nights later, The Blind Boys of Alabama taped their performance. Mike Kappus was interviewed during that show about his environmental commitment and Rosebud’s solar powered office.


The Best of the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band CD Just Released

The Best of the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band was released on September 24, 2002, by Arhoolie Records. The package includes 22 tracks personally selected by the band covering a span of 22 years recording together. The Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band's distinguished members included Marc Savoy - accordion and vocals; Ann Savoy - guitar and vocals; and Michael Doucet of BeauSoleil on fiddle and vocals.

Ann also recently produced Evangeline Made: A Tribute To Cajun Music for Vanguard Records. The CD features Linda Ronstadt, John Fogerty, Richard Thompson, and Nick Lowe singing traditional Cajun music.

The Blind Boys of Alabama to Tour With Peter Gabriel. Song In Upcoming Sigourney Weaver Film

Blind Boys of Alabama have been invited to tour on Peter Gabriel’s entire "Growing Up Live" tour. The tour is Gabriel’s first in North America in nearly 10 years and starts November 13 in Chicago and currently runs through December 15 (see tour dates). In addition, the Blind Boys "Amazing Grace" is featured in the upcoming Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia film "The Guys".


Staples / Hammond Songs In the Films "Barber Shop" and "The Last Castle"

Mavis Staples can be heard singing lead on the Staple Singers’ "I’ll Take You There", which closes the current hit film "Barber Shop". John Hammond’s "Get Behind The Mule" is also in the film "The Last Castle" starring Robert Redford and James Gandolfini.


Loudon Wainwright III Featured in Fox TV's Grounded For Life

Loudon Wainwright III returns to the small screen for an appearance on the Fox-TV show "Grounded For Life". The show will be the first Grounded For Life episode after the conclusion of the World Series. Last year, Loudon appeared in 17 of the 23 "Undeclared" episodes, as well as on a special two hour episode of "Ally McBeal" on which Loudon sang three songs in addition to his acting role.


The Best of Robert Cray - The Millennium Collection Available October 15

The Best of Robert Cray, a collection of 10 of his best songs on Mercury Records will be released October 15 as part of Universal's 20th Century Masters series. Each of the selections has been digitally remastered from original sources. They span 1986 through 1995 and six of his seven Mercury albums - one double platinum, two gold - which together garnered eight Grammy nominations and produced two Grammy Awards. The package carries a special low retail price as with all CDs in the series.
