 Loudon Wainwright III Hosts / Wins at AFIM Awards Event Loudon Wainwright III had the audience laughing throughout the show as he hosted the national AFIM (Association For Independent Music) Awards in San Francisco March 11. Loudon hosted a portion of the show last year and was such a hit he was asked to return to host the entire event this year. In addition to raves for his performance as host, he took home the award for Best Contemporary Folk Album for his Last Man On Earth CD. The Blind Boys Of Alabama on Tonight Show The Blind Boys of Alabama, fresh from their Grammy win for their Spirit Of The Century CD, appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 6 on NBC. BeauSoleil Honors For Best Cajun Band / Best Cajun CD in Offbeat Awards BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet won two "Best of the Beat" Awards sponsored by the popular New Orleans music weekly Offbeat. Recognizing the best of Louisiana music, the awards for "Best Cajun Band" and "Best Cajun Album" (for their 2001 25th Anniversary release Looking Back Tomorrow) were given to the band at Offbeat's 7th Annual Awards ceremony in January. |
