Booker T. Jones and Jolie Holland Collaborate on Remake of 'What a Wonderful World' Booker T. Jones and Jolie Holland recently teamed up to record the Louis Armstrong classic, 'What a Wonderful World.' The track is due to be released digitally by Anti- on Nov. 6th in celebration of 40 years since the songs original release. JJ Cale Covered in New Eric Clapton CD and Lauded in Clapton's Autobiography JJ Cales After Midnight and Cocaine are both featured on Claptons new career retrospective, Complete Clapton, in addition to Cales Ride the River, which the pair recorded for last years collaborative effort, The Road To Escondido. In addition, Clapton also praises Cale highly in his just published autobiography stating that In my humble opinion, he is one of the most important artists in the history of rock, quietly representing the greatest asset his country has ever had... Clapton: The Autobiography and Complete Clapton are now available in stores, along with Cales own recent release, Rewind: Unreleased Recordings.
Trombone Shorty Scoring Major Media & Best Performance Award - Billboard, USA Today, Good Morning America, MSN, Village Voice features Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenues profile continues to rise with a number of recent major media features in just the past few weeks. Trombone Shorty, aka Troy Andrews, gave USA Today a tour of his Treme neighborhood for a feature story on Katrina's anniversary, with an added feature on his favorite haunts in the city. Andrews also appeared recently on Good Morning America as well as on an MSN Music special on post-Katrina New Orleans. He also scored a major feature this past week in the Village Voice. And Billboard Magazine's review of Goin Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino notes Whole Lotta Loving, featuring Andrews with Lenny Kravitz, Rebirth Brass Band and others as one of the project's funkiest tracks and declares Andrews as "one of New Orleans fastest rising players." A recent show in Tampa, Florida won the award for Best Musical Performance of the Year in Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay awards.
