New Orleans' Mayor Morial Declares August 2 - The Dirty Dozen Day Just back from a brief European tour, The Dirty Dozen will spend the rest of the year touring the US in support of their new Mammoth Records release, Ears To The Wall. The tour kicks off in style - Mayor Marc H. Morial has declared August 2 The Dirty Dozen Day in New Orleans. The group will start the day with an appearance on Morning Show, on New Orleans' CBS affiliate WWL followed by an instore appearance at Tower Records and capped by a headlining date at the legendary Tipitina's club. The new CD is currently #3 on CMJ's Jazz chart. Members of The Dozen are also heard on the new Black Crowes record, Three Snakes And A Charm and their song, "My Feet Can't Fail Me Now" was recently featured in the Steve Martin movie, Sgt. Bilko. The Dirty Dozen will tour America throughout the year, introducing their new lineup and name along with the new record. JJ Cale continues streak of famous covers JJ Cale's "Thing Going On" is featured on the hit soundtrack for Phenomenon. Cale's own new record, Guitar Man, is climbing the AAA charts nationwide. In addition to the track in Phenomenon, his music is also currently covered by several other artists: On the current CD by Gatemouth Brown ("Don't Cry Sister"), the Randy Crawford R&B hit single ("Cajun Moon"), the latest record by The Band ("Crazy Mama"), and Eric Clapton's Crossroads 2 box set ("Cocaine"). Luther Allison sweeps Living Blues Readers and Critics polls following Handy Awards and NAIRD Award Wins In BOTH the Living Blues Reader's and Critics' Poll, Luther Allison won in each of the following categories: Blues Artist of the Year In addition to the Handy and Living Blues Awards, Blue Streak recently won the Best Blues Album Award at the NAIRD (National Association of Independent Recording Distributors and Manufacturers) awards. Luther has just returned to the US for another run of festivals and club dates prior to recording the follow up to his acclaimed Blue Streak CD this Fall.
