Ruthie Foster's blend of gospel, blues, folk and soul has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading. Her latest CD, "The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster" spent six months in the Top 15 of the Billboard blues charts. The New York Post wrote "Foster has a deep gritty voice with a little Janis and some Aretha that will please discerning soul and rock fans." The Austin Chronicle raved "Foster's deeply soulful vocals dip into gospel and swing toward contemporary folk with R&B panache. When she sings a cappella, the heavens part." Highlights of Ruthie's 2008 schedule included shows at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, San Francisco Blues Festival, a highly successful debut tour of Australia, and France's Antibes Jazz Festival. Ruthie also appears and performs in the upcoming indie comedy film, "The Sno Cone Stand, Inc." featuring Tony Sirico ("The Sopranos") and Morgan Fairchild. 2009 will kick off with a new CD and the CAMI performing arts tour, Guitar Blues, where Ruthie will perform with Jorma Koukonen and Robben Ford.
