Duke Robillard on Dylan's Triple Grammy Winner

Duke Robillard played on Bob Dylan's multiple Grammy winning, Time Out Of Mind as well as Ruth Brown's Grammy nominated R+B=Ruth Brown. He went directly from the Dylan sessions in Florida to Ruth Brown's sessions in New Orleans last year to participate in each project.


Rosebud artists score ten W.C. Handy Awards Nominations

The late Luther Allison swept the W.C. Handy Awards nominations for the third year earning six nominations including Blues Entertainer of the Year, Blues Band of the Year, Contemporary Blues-Male Artist of the Year, Blues Instrumentalist-Guitar, Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for Reckless and "Living In The House of The Blues" earned him Blues Song of The Year.

Also picking up a much deserved W.C. Handy nomination is Duke Robillard for Best Blues Instrumentalist - Guitar.

Charlie Musselwhite also scored Handy nominations for Contemporary Blues-Male Artist of the Year as well as for Blues Instrumentalist-Harmonica. Musselwhite is a seven time Handy winner in the Harmonica category.

The legendary Charles Brown is nominated in the W.C. Handys for Best Blues Instrumentalist - Keyboards.

The late Luther Allison was honored with a Grammy Nomination in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category for his Reckless CD. Allison passed away in August after being diagnosed with cancer while on tour in support of the CD. He was widely recognized as the fastest rising star in the blues world having swept the W.C Handy Awards two years running and being featured on the covers of every major blues magazine.

John Lee Hooker scored two Grammy Nominations for his current CD, Don't Look Back. The CD was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album while his duet with Van Morrison on the title track earned a nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

BeauSoleil snared their eighth Grammy Nomination for Best Traditional Folk Album for their L'Amour Ou La Folie CD.

Robert Cray kept his streak alive with his tenth Grammy Nomination, this time for Sweet Potato Pie and it's nomination as Best Contemporary Blues Album. Each of Robert's last eight projects has been nominated for a Grammy and he's won four to date.

Charlie Musselwhite's latest, Rough News, proved to be good news after all, scoring him a nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Duke Robillard played guitar on two prominent Grammy nominated projects, R&B=Ruth Brown and Bob Dylan's Time Out Of Mind.



New Duke Robillard Blues + Jazz CD Compilation Releases

Rounder Records has issued two compilations of Duke Robillard's best work on the label. The self explanatory titles are Duke Robillard Plays Blues and Duke Robillard Plays Jazz. Duke is also currently featured on the new releases by Ruth Brown, R&B = Ruth Brown, and Bob Dylan's new hit CD,Time Out Of Mind. Duke ison tour constantly.


Duke Robillard in a Dangerous Place & Jack Nicholson movie

Duke Robillard's new CD, Dangerous Place, is due out May 6th. Duke just finished recording with Ruth Brown, Pinetop Perkins and Bob Dylan and producing a Jay McShann release due next month. His song "Love Slipped In" is in the just released Jack Nicholson movie, Blood & Wine. He also co-produced John Hammond's Grammy nominated CD Found True Love.


Rosebud artists once again made an impressive showing in this year's Grammy Awards nominations

John Hammond's Found True Love (co-produced by John and Duke Robillard) was selected in the Best Traditional Blues category marking John's third consecutive Grammy nominated release.

Robert Cray's midas touch also continues. After eight consecutive nominations including one for each of his last six Mercury releases, Robert picks up a shared nomination for Best Rock Instrumental for his participation on the "SRV Shuffle," from the Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan CD. Other artists on the track include Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Art Neville and Jimmie Vaughan.

Newly-signed Rosebud artist Booker T. Jones was recognized along with the MGs in the same category for the classic "Green Onions."

And Brazilian jazz/pop artist Ivan Lins received a nomination in the Best Latin Jazz Performance category for his collaboration with trumpeter Terence Blanchard "The Heart Speaks."


John Hammond and Duke Robillard Down Under (And Soon Loudon Wainwright III / Richard Thompson)

The blues touring package featuring John Hammond and Duke Robillard recently completed a successful two-week tour of Australia and New Zealand, performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland. Watch for Duke's new pointblank / Virgin CD, Dangerous Place this Spring.

Loudon Wainwright III will also tour Australia from February 19 to March 10 along with old friend Richard Thompson.


Duke's Advice regarding Homocide

Be on the lookout for "Duke's Advice," from his forthcoming Dangerous Place CD, on the January 3rd episode of NBC TV's Homicide. The program will also air the tune "Duke's Blues," recorded by Roomful of Blues during Duke Robillard's days with the band, on its January 17th airing.
